Recorded on SpecWithCode 1.0.47 with SpecWeave 3.0.23, 18 October 2026, added 18 October 2026. The current release is SpecWithCode 1.0.44.
Before you start: SpecWithCode for Mac on both machines; Tailscale on both machines, signed in to the same account, with MagicDNS and HTTPS certificates on.
Steps
- Install Tailscale on both machines, sign in to the same account, and turn on MagicDNS and HTTPS certificates for the tailnet.
- On the new machine, open Settings, then Connections, and choose Invite this machine. Give it a name and choose Make the line. SpecWithCode publishes itself on that machine's private Tailscale name, never on the public internet.
- Copy the line. It works like a password, so paste it only on your main machine.
- On the main machine, open Settings, Connections, paste the line under Add a machine and choose Add machine. It checks the address answers as that machine and lists it as Reachable.
- Pick the most a worker there may do. In 1.0.47, also run
specwithcode pair --scope orchestration:read --scope orchestration:operateon the new machine and paste its one-time code into the pairing code field. - Choose Allow workers. The card reads Allowed: Full access.

0:00 What you need
Add a second machine. Both machines need Tailscale, signed in to the same account, with MagicDNS and HTTPS certificates turned on.
0:11 Make the line on the new machine
On the new machine, here a Mac mini, open Settings, then Connections. Choose Invite this machine, give it a name, and choose Make the line. SpecWithCode publishes itself on the Mac mini's private Tailscale name, never on the public internet. The line works like a password, so it stays blurred here.
0:32 Add it on the main machine
On your main machine, open the same Connections page. Paste the line under Add a machine, and choose Add machine. The main machine checks that the address answers as that Mac, then lists it as reachable. Its address is blurred too.
0:49 Allow workers
Pick the most a worker there may do. Version 1.0.47 also asks for a one-time pairing code from the Mac mini, made there beforehand with specwithcode pair. Then choose Allow workers. The card now reads Allowed: Full access.
1:07 Next: a Linux server
Next: add a Linux server you rent, with the Linux worker guide.
